In 2011 democracy found a new voice in the middle east. Egypt, Libya, Lebanon, Tunisia, Iran and many more nations experienced protests powered by people and enabled by technology. Their demonstrations, banners and tweets called for revolution, freedom and a voice.
In 2012 UN Youth NSW is bringing together high school students from across the state to discuss people, power and revolution in the context of the United Nations. Held from the 23rd to 25th March at the Collaroy Centre, the annual UN Youth NSW State Conference is the most prestigious youth conference in NSW. The jam-packed weekend features workshops, speakers, problem solving, leadership activities and a day of exhilarating Model United Nations debate. Open to all students years 9 - 12, this is a must-go for student leaders, public speakers and anyone who wants to find out more about the world we live in.
Creating Student Leaders, Empowering Public Speakers
The conference provides a fantastic introduction to global diplomacy and the inner workings of the United Nations, the world's peak governing body. For debate each conference delegate is given a country whose views they represent on a range of international issues in both a UN Committee and General Assembly debate format.
Run entirely by motivated UN Youth facilitators, it's a weekend you won't ever forget. Registration costs $210, including all accommodation, meals and resources. NOTE: Registration will close midnight Wednesday 14th March.
